Wolf Dem is a duo from Philadelphia, conceived in the fall of 2012 by two longtime DJs who bonded over similar musical backgrounds and a mutual desire to explore the bleeding edges of electronic music. Using both analog and digital tools – and drawing from a highly diverse range of influences – Wolf Dem grew from its original concept and focused its form; the result is simultaneously chaotic and hypnotic, situated at techno’s intersection with Caribbean music, noise, and field recordings. Perhaps the sound is better described as, “what your dreams would sound like if you fell asleep in an old warehouse where someone had left a dancehall station playing on the radio.”

Past releases include a track for a compilation on New Low, a cassette for Vague Audio Tapes, and a track for a compilation on Great Circles, all labels that are also local to Philadelphia. A Wolf Dem 12" is also slated for release on Great Circles later this summer.

On Existential Horror, Wolf Dem showcases the grittiest side of their sound: darkness and distortion underpin every track from start to finish as rhythmic elements are slowly altered underneath collages of noisy, textural elements.
